PointSyn Help

The basics

• Your phone keeps score. All the scoring logic runs on your phone. If you pair a watch, the watch is a tap surface and a display, but the phone is always in charge.
• Sign in to keep a history. Matches and tournaments are saved to your account, and count towards your stats. You can also play as a guest, with nothing saved.
• Start a match from your phone. Pick a sport, choose your settings, tap Start Match. The watch cannot start a match on its own.

Getting the best out of your watch

If you are going to score from your wrist, two quick settings make all the difference:

• Turn on Always On Display. This is in your watch's own settings, not PointSyn. It keeps the screen awake so PointSyn is there the instant you glance down, instead of a dark screen you have to wake first. This is the single biggest thing that stops mid-match frustration.
• Learn your watch's app-switch button or gesture. If a notification or another app appears mid-game, you want to be able to jump straight back to PointSyn without fumbling.

PointSyn will show this reminder once, the first time you start a watch-paired match. If you would rather not use the watch for a particular match, turn on Bypass Watch in Match Setup and the watch is left out entirely.

What the match settings mean

Team Names. Name each team (up to 16 characters). Tick "This is my team" on your own side so wins and losses are attributed to you on your Dashboard. You are not asked this for a Casual Match, since nothing is saved.

Location (optional). Free text, for example "Elite Padel Club, Court 3". Shown on the saved match. Does not affect scoring.

Scoring Format (padel).

• Standard: normal games, sets and deuce.
• Americano: first team to a total number of points wins, with serve rotating on a fixed count. Common for social sessions and mini-tournaments.

Standard scoring options:

• Deuce Rule: how many deuces before a single sudden-death point decides the game. "Golden point" means no deuce at all, one point at 40-40.
• Games Per Set: first to 4 or first to 6.
• Match Length: a single set, or best of 3.
• Tiebreak: at 6-6 (or 4-4), play a tiebreak to 7, or a longer "super tiebreak" to 10.

Americano options:

• Total Points: the target that ends the match (24, 32 or 40). Whoever has more points when it is reached wins.
• Serve Rotates Every: serve switches teams every 2 or every 4 total points.

Pickleball options:

• Points Per Game: 11, 15 or 21, win by 2.
• Match Length: best of 3 or best of 5.

Serving Now / Serving First. Which team serves first. During a Standard match this then changes automatically each game.

Watch Tile Order. Whether the two score tiles stay in a fixed left/right order, or the serving team always shows on the left.

Tournament or Casual Match. Turn this on to use full scoring without it being saved to your history or counting towards achievements. Useful for a practice game, or for scoring one round of a tournament on the side, where the organiser's own recorded score is the only official result.

Bypass Watch. Off by default. Turn it on to skip the watch for this match entirely, mainly useful for a demo or when no watch is nearby.

During a match

• Tap a team's tile to add a point, on the phone or the watch.
• Undo covers three cases: undo the last point, undo the whole current game, or undo the last fully completed game (handy if a stray tap, or sweat on the watch, finished a game before anyone noticed).
• Reset Match sets the score back to 0-0 but keeps the session going.
• Match Overview lets you correct points, games or sets by hand mid-match.
• Voice turns on spoken score announcements. Pair a Bluetooth speaker so the whole court hears every point.
• End Match finishes now and takes you to a Review screen, where you check or correct the final score before it saves.
• Cancel Match abandons the match completely. Nothing is saved.

Sharing a match or tournament live

Tap Share during a match, or Share Live Link in a tournament, to get a link anyone can open. It works in a browser, or opens in the PointSyn app.

If a signed-in friend opens the link, they can pick which side they are on (or which tournament player they are). When the match or tournament finishes, it is saved to their history too, and counts towards their own stats. A Casual Match is never saved for anyone, including viewers.

Tournaments

From the Dashboard, tap Tournaments, then Create Tournament. Add your players, choose Americano or King of the Court, and PointSyn generates the rounds and pairings. Enter each court's score round by round, with running standings throughout. Share the live link so players can follow along or join.

Notifications

Notifications are off by default during the beta, so you are not interrupted. To turn on the ones you want, open the account menu and go to Notification Settings. Each category (Reminders, Tip of the Day, Achievements, App Updates) has its own Push and Email switch.

Your Dashboard

Your Dashboard shows your stats per sport, a win/loss trend, achievements, and recent activity. Only matches and tournaments where you marked your own side or player count towards wins and losses. Completed tournaments and matches both count towards your total games played.
